Alexander Petrosyan [Mar. 6th, 2012|11:16 am]
Tony Grist
Alexander Petrosyan is a Russian photojournalist working out of St. Petersburg. I've been following him at petrosphotos for years.  His latest post shows police breaking up (what I assume is) an anti-Putin demonstration. He gets right into the middle of the action- and still manages to produce wonderfully composed, perfectly judged images.  I really don't know how he does it.

It's worth browsing his back catalogue. He's an extraordinary talent.

They're terrific photos. Why does the USSR, even at its most destructive and corrupt still look such an appealing place? (at a distance - you wouldn't want to live there...)

A great photographer can make anywhere look appealing- at least, if that's what he wants to do.
