Chilblains [Feb. 22nd, 2012|10:55 am]
Tony Grist
Ailz has chilblains. I thought that's what they were- and now her podiatrist confirms it. I have them too, I think, though I haven't had them diagnosed. Chilblains are caused by nerves getting themselves frozen to death, so we need to work harder at keeping our feet warm.

We spend much of the day in a room with an unreconstructed wood floor. Very picturesque, very draughty. I've imported a mat from the front room (where it's not needed) to cover up some of the gaps between the boards.

I suffer from low blood pressure, which means constant problems with cold hands and feet. Down is the way to go, definitely.

Me too with low BP - and chillblains as well. Always cold, often achy. I wear sox 24 hours a day, have special non constricting bedsox so as to not stop circulation. I also wear flannel pajamas and long sleeve cotton pullover tops day and night. For me, it is much easier to STAY warm than to GET warm again.
