Let The Sun Shine In

Maybe it's just that I move in the wrong circles these days, but it's been a while since I last heard the phrase "Age of Aquarius".

I'm an Aquarian myself and it kinda flatters my ego to think that my Age is up next. Thanks and no thanks, Pisceans; you've had your chance and you blew it. Spanish Inquisition? Bad move. Now make way for the Brainiacs of the Zodiac.

"Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more forces of derision
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelations
And the mind's true liberation "

I just yanked those words off an astrological website and, guess what, they had some dude playing the tune on a Hammond. I've left it playing. It makes me smile. Far out, man!

OK that's enough already! I've switched it off. There's only so much Hammond a man can take.

"Golden living dreams of visions"- ah, the poetry!

I was at school when Hair opened in London. I was on the fringe of Mr Horlock's theatrical set and we were  afraid that the Lord Chancellor would close it down- or at least make 'em wear y-fronts during the Great Nakedness Scene. But the first night went through unopposed and there was much dancing on desks I can tell you. It was like the New Age had dawned already.

Mick Jagger for Pope and Marianne Faithfull for Mrs Pope!

It didn't turn out quite that way-  as you may perhaps have noticed.

But some astrologers say Aquarius won't really get off the ground until well into the present Millennium. What we had in the 60s was a little foretaste, a teaser, a trailer.

Coming soon to a screen near you.
