Credit Where Credit Is Due [May. 12th, 2010|05:22 pm]
Tony Grist
Two of New Labour's crappier projects have just been cancelled.

There will be no further action on ID cards and all plans for a third runway at Heathrow have been abandoned.

Thank you, fellas.

I've noticed that too.

Theresa May seems to be the only gal they've asked to the party.

At the moment it seems like, whatever it does over the coming months, our new governemnt has just won my undying gratitude.

I don't expect this feeling to last.

(Now you can try to avoid the suspicion that something else is about to undercut all that gratitude . . .)

I don't think anything could ever induce me to vote conservative, but I'm happy to applaud when they get things right.

Next step

The next step, of course, is to cut the deficit by cutting government spending. What is the government spending money on that it needn't? Two obvious things: Trident and the war in Afghanistan.

Re: Next step

I couldn't agree more.

But I understand the Lib Dems have agreed to back down over Trident.
