|Winter Carries On

The in-laws are dropping by this morning, so I've been outside sowing the icy pavement with salt. Everywhere else is thawed out- the in-law's street, even though it's on a higher hill than ours, is thawed out- but we face north and our road gets a dab of sunshine first thing (if there's sun to be had) and then nothing more all day. |
The blackbird sits on the wall picking at his breast feathers. He looks particularly sleek today. I trust he and his lady will be nesting in the ivy again this year.
There is snow in the air. A single flake riding the currents. And, look- there's another.
The salt hasn't done its job. I'm going out again- but this time with a spade.
