Our First Auction

Ian stopped by this morning to pick up another car load of stuff to take to auction. As it happens, our first auction was scheduled for today- and he and I watched it in something like real time over the internet. There was only the one camera- and it stayed fixed on the auctioneer's desk- so there was little of the drama- and occasional comedy- that you get in TV shows like Flog It- where multiple cameras capture the interplay between auctioneer and congregation. One of our lots- a tortoiseshell tea caddy- did exceptionally well, most of the others fetched realistic sums, and a few of the more random ones drew no bids at all- and will be returning home.
