Britain's CV infection rates are climbing- the result of our scrappy attempts to reinstate the old normal.

It seems clear that if you want the old normal back (you won't get it but never mind, you can try) you need to accept that you'll be creating conditions that allow the virus to flourish- and the only way to stop it flourishing is to go into lockdown.

Would society accept another complete lockdown? I doubt it. Sage reports that only 20% of those asked to self-isolate are doing so completely.
