For This Relief Much Thanks

The thunderstorm that hit us at 6.45 this morning hasn't broken the heatwave, but it dumped a lot of water on us and was wonderful to listen to while it lasted.

There may be another storm on the way. At least that's what the man who was receiving donations for Aspen's charity shop told me. He was unpacking bags into a lock-up garage with a concrete roof and I took his word for it that it was sweltering in there.

I'm getting used to wearing a mask- though I do it for as little time as I can get away with. I can see why the NHS insists on ones that fasten behind the head. The ones that loop over the ears don't stay in place.

(And besides, they chafe.)
