Remaking History, One Statue At A Time

And then there's Columbus...

Thief, mass murderer and one of the most evil individuals of whom we have any record.

(But subject of a hagiographic biopic which was made as recently as 1992)

Public-spirited citizens in Richmond, Virginia have just thrown one of his statues in a lake.

It was shallow lake. The bloody thing is still partly visible above the water line.

Anyway, that's one down, many thousands still to go.

As I recall one of his likenesses sits atop a huge monument conveniently sited next to the docks in Barcelona...
