Having Fun [Aug. 9th, 2019|08:46 am]
Tony Grist
Odi was running short of food so we stopped on our way down to Camber and did some shopping at the Aldi in Ore.

This is the first time I'd ever bought ten frozen pizzas at a go.

I like the caravan park at Camber- it's nicely kept and has good facilities- but almost every extra comes at a steep price: £5.00 for a brief bounce on the trampolines, £5.00 for half an hour's hire of a pedal cycle- and so on. You think you're buying a cheap holiday but you ain't.

(When I was a kid the slot machines on Brighton pier were just a penny a go and...O, shut up, Granddad.)

Odi was dead set on hiring one of the four-seater cycles- and I said "No" but she wore me down. I sat all cramped up at the front with Miguel and she and Peter sat behind and did the pedalling- and we wobbled round the park- with Ailz riding alongside, outpacing us on her electric scooter- and I couldn't help wondering how this was any improvement on walking.

I'm beginning to notice again how viral some discounter store chains from here are...

Aldi is well established over here. Lidl too.

we love Aldi in the u.s. except maybe for their produce. My friend Jennifer talks about shopping in one of the original ones in Germany.

The cycle doesn't sound like much fun. And seriously, campgrounds (caravan parks) like that just roast me.

Aldi is cheap and the quality is reliable. We like shopping there.

I wouldn't want to stay on a caravan park- but kids love them.

Aldi has good quality everything for a decent price.
You really are a proper granddad shopping for them like that.

All those pricey extras are so attractive to kids et al.

I like Aldi. It 's cheaper than the long-established stores (though it's been around a good while itself) and the quality is reliable.

My first reaction was "that's mad" but as Odi explained they'll feed five people for two meals. It's not so much when you think about it.
