Glastonbury Abbey

The west end of the Abbey church with the tower of the parish church in the background

Carving over the southern entrance to the Abbey church

The Abbot's kitchen- the only fully intact building left on site.

Dried fish in the Abbot's kitchen.

I calculated the distance at 30 miles but  it turned out to be more like 60 and the light was going by the time we reached Avebury. Unlike Stonehenge- the worst managed tourist attraction in the country- Avebury attracts only those who care for her- and the magic is unspoiled.
