The Longest Church In Kent [Mar. 7th, 2019|09:13 am]
Tony Grist

Following on from the smallest church in Sussex, here's the longest church in Kent- All Saints, Lydd- sometimes called The Cathedral of Romney Marsh- 199 feet from end to end, with a tower that's 132 feet high.

Romney Marsh was once a very wealthy area- and could afford to build "statement" churches.

Very impressive!

I wonder if the parishioners at the back could still hear the sermon?

A good preacher would make sure they did.

I used to be a preacher- and I knew as a matter of instinct ( and practice) how to work with the acoustics of a building. To put it another way, I could hear when I was being heard.

A good actor has the same skill.
