Ice And Snow [Jan. 31st, 2019|09:07 am]
Tony Grist
The snow that fell the night before last is still in place. The water in the horse tubs and bird baths has frozen- and so has the ground. Our thermometers say it's nought degrees in the sun and minus two in the shade.

West Kent got off lightly- as usual. Up north the snow shut down a couple of airports- and there's more on the way.

The mainstream meteorologists say, "Don't be fooled, the polar vortex that's causing all this extreme weather is just a by product of global warming." The dissidents say, "Don't be fooled, it's the start of a mini Ice Age."

So far no snow here in Faversham and I hope it stays that way.

The company that provides my mother with carers rang up this afternoon to say "please be patient if the girls are late arriving, but we're expecting SNOW"."

Yes, the polar vortex is a byproduct of global warming (and If I hear any more people who supposedly have brains say 'What happened to global warming?" I'll scream!) but maybe it IS the start of a mini-Ice Age.

Stay warm. Please.

Either way there are changes going on.

It is definitely the product of climate change. Down here we don't have the extremes in winter but summers are getting brutal.

It's my impression that temperatures have been rising in recent years. Up till now this has been a very mild winter...
