Fever Dream [Dec. 29th, 2018|08:57 am]
Tony Grist
I dreamed I was assembling and distributing goody-bags related to the work of the no longer greatly esteemed Victorian novelist, George Meredith. And, no, it didn't and doesn't make a great deal of sense. It's the kind of dream one has when one's feverish.

I have always wondered WHERE our dreams come from. There are theories about what they mean, who the people in them are, etc etc. Of late I have been dreaming of my mother, sometimes my father and sometimes my late brother. They tell me things that make no sense to me - like my mother telling me to get an apartment in Camillus (no public transport, no way to get to the store, the doctor, etc, she'd never have told me anything like that IRL). Are they really visitations? WHERE do they come from?

Sometimes dreams are nonsense and sometimes they aren't. People on the other side of the veil can use them to communicate with us- but there are obstacles in the way and the message may come through a bit garbled. I'd say the best test of the "reality" of a dream is how vivid it seems. I've had dreams in which my father showed up and I've accepted those as authentic. He never had anything to say, but the feeling of love and joy that came through was very convincing.

Camillus looks very pleasant. Are you sure it's not a possibility?

Yes, believe me I considered it.

Right after Mom died I dreamt nights at a time that she was there, but when I talked to her she couldn't hear me, and she couldn't talk at all.

My father never has anything to say- that I can remember- he's just there.
