The building dates from the 1820s and was the centrepiece of James Burton's St Leonard's-on-sea. The original entrance is round the back- where guests would be sheltered from sea breezes. The gorgeous seafront entrance was added in 1903.

Handsomer than Buckingham Palace....

No, we didn't go inside. It was so nice on the promenade we just kept on walking.
