Prequels [Jun. 2nd, 2018|08:17 pm]

How come, when everybody says they hate spoilers, the entertainment industry keeps serving up prequels- which are stories with spoilers built in?

Are you desperate to know what Han Solo got up to before he became Harrison Ford? Me neither.

Prequels in about every case are just disappointing.
Not only that part of a figure is the imagination how he became what he is, on the other hand it is also always a development over years which one movie or video game barely can cover. They try to contentrate this into one single thread of events and then present that as "that's how he/she became who he/she is". And that's always SO unrealistic.
(Not even to mention: The people doing the prequels often aren't the original authors, but people who had been hired for money to develop a story quickly and which, at best, have been influenced themselves by the original story, but they can't grasp the way it originally was constructed like. Therefore these things also always end in a disappointing result.)

I can't think of any prequels worth bothering with.

Godfather II perhaps- but that's prequel and sequel rolled into one.

Can't remember any either which was good for once, so that's why I take the statement for all of them instead of usually "most" or "some".
