Cheddar Man- a 10,000 year old skeleton from the Cheddar Gorge in Somerset- and have discovered he had markers for dark skin, blue eyes and curly hair. He belonged to the group of modern humans who repopulated the British Isles after the last great Ice Age- and around 10% of modern, indigenous Britons can count him among their ancestors. The Kennis brothers do fabulous work- creating portraits of early humans that suggest they all had a wonderful sense of humour. I'm not sure they think of themselves as artists- but we should certainly be feteing them as such.
