Winged Horse? [Nov. 9th, 2017|12:54 pm]
Tony Grist
 This is odd.

For the past few days the baby horse has been in the top field and the grown-up horses in the bottom field. The fence between the two fields is secure- and can't be breached or jumped- so I assumed Chris had separated them deliberately. I thought maybe it was good horse husbandry to separate foals from dams at a certain age- because what do I know?

But it bothered us that the baby horse didn't have access to a water butt- so we rang Chris for reassurance and it turned out he had no idea they'd been split up. He'd thought they were all playing happy families in the bottom field.

So I went out in my green wellies with a walking stick in my fist and opened the gate between the fields and shooed the baby horse through it.

But how did she get from one field to the other in the first place? I know it's none of my doing and no-one else- apart from Chris- ever goes out there.

Now that's a mystery and seems as if it was done deliberately. And no water...poor baby! I'm glad you reunited her with the rest.

I just don't know.

Perhaps Chris thought he'd shut them all into the bottom field and hadn't noticed the foal wasn't with the adults- but it doesn't seem likely. How difficult can it be to do a head count of four horses?
