Once A Parent Always A Parent [Oct. 12th, 2017|12:52 pm]
Tony Grist
You never stop feeling parental responsibility.

My sons and their families are coming down for a brief visit and we're all going to go to Battle to watch the re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings- and I'm having to resist the urge to micromanage everything. The boys, I keep having to remind myself, are adults now- and not young adults either- but married men with jobs and mortgages....

I understand exactly what you mean and have to clamp down on my own inclinations to micromanage any family stuff that includes "kids". The problem is that I tend to go in the opposite direction of not saying or doing anything and then my daughters say "Mom, why didn't you just say so?"

When my kids show up in my dreams it's always as children and never (that I remember) as their adult selves.
