Good Fences Make Good Neighbours

Julia and Bean have renewed the fence between the upper and lower fields- which means I can now isolate the lower field and tend bonfires there without being mobbed and pushed around by creatures with big heavy hooves. The initiative was Matthew's. Julia reported back to him that I was having my fires in the protected kitchen garden and incidentally singeing the beech hedge- and he threw up his hands in horror and said, "but that's an old hedge!"
