Oh wow, look at the shape of the trees!
What glorious views!
Looks rather brisk up there though...
I love the South Downs.
It wasn't as blowy as it looks. Those trees have been fixed like that by decades of wind.
These pictures make me think of Jane Eyre....
I know what you mean, but the Sussex Downs are much friendlier than the Yorkshire Moors.
Do those photos mean that it isn't raining where you are? I'm jealous.
No, today has been a perfect day. Virtually cloudless.
You can tell which way the prevailing wind blows!
You can indeed.
No tender-hearted garden crowns,
No bosomed woods adorn
Our blunt, bow-headed, whale-backed Downs,
But gnarled and writhen thorn...
My hubby is a Brighton boy and threatens to retire to Sussex. I said, as long as it's not Brighton, but this bit, I would be happy with that. Did you have lunch at The Ram at Firle?
Yes, we did.
They were doing a roaring trade in spite of it's being a weekday in January.
London is basically London by the sea, but there are many quieter bits. We may well retire to Sussex when the time comes.
