Otherwise Mike and I were talking about the things the Japanese got up to during the War- and it all sort of hung together. He was saying how nice it was to be in a place where the Brits are seen as the good guys- the good colonialists anyway- because they were so much pleasanter than the japanese- and eventually returned as liberators. He's taking an interest in all that history- Japan, Britain, Singapore, Korea, Shanghai- so I suggested he might like to watch Tenko.
The revival of Japanese nationalism bothers him rather. I guess it should bother us all.
