Cold Turkey [Jan. 26th, 2014|10:10 am]
Tony Grist
My mother seems no worse for having her codeine withdrawn. This morning's carer is very voluble. As she was taking her leave my mother winked at me. That's a first.

I'm taking myself off codeine too. I've been on up to eight tablets a day.  The first day was fine. Last night I mostly slept but it hurt when I woke. I've been sweating more than usual. This morning I ache all over.

So this is what my body fees like in its natural state...

cold turkey

So far so good then...so pleased Ma did that wink/ It feels like a tiny piece of normal response returning.
Your sweating etc doesn't sound like your natural state, but your withdrawal symptoms. Good luck with the process.

Re: cold turkey

The wink was immensely encouraging. Jo can be a bit much at times.

That's not your natural state, that's withdrawal. It may get worse before it gets better.

Thanks. That's reassuring. Ailz has made me take an ibuprofen for the joint pain.

The pain can be mostly from withdrawal.

That's what I'm hoping. But I know there's an underlying arthritic condition.

I agree that it is mostly a withdrawal process. Take some cod liver oil tablets as these might help your blood flow and ease the aches.

Thanks. I believe I'm already taking those.
