Disingenuous [Jan. 25th, 2014|09:42 am]
Tony Grist
There's a file on the Profumo affair that's still embargoed and is going to stay embargoed for the foreseeable future. Andrew Lloyd-Webber is leading a campaign to have it opened. This morning's Mail thinks it's terribly unfair that people are jumping to the conclusion that it's Prince Philip who's being protected.

Gah, I hate official secrecy- especially when its only purpose is to protect the great and not so good.

It has constitutional implications. The Windsors rule by consent of the people. If they were discovered to have been behaving really badly that consent might be withdrawn- and the government of the day would have a huge crisis on its hands.
