Spring Is (Very Nearly) Sprung

Woke up this morning, looked out the window and the sun was shining and the snow had gone and it felt like a regular day in early spring.

I love this moment- just before the leaves come back. We were motoring down moorland roads yesterday- with the snow packed along the verges like miniatures of the White Cliffs of Dover- and the trees along the field edges- thorn trees mostly- had a sort of green aura to them. I couldn't exactly see the aura, but it was there-and there was no way- though the outer forms were exactly the same as they would have been in December- that you could mistake the time of year.
