Back From The Health Centre

Ailz's podiatry appointments are always scheduled first thing in the morning.  Today's was for 8.50. I expect to feel heavy-eyed all day.

The pub at the top of Park Road, which used to have a notice on its door saying it wouldn't serve "travellers" (it probably still does) is flying a quite enormous Irish tricolor. Ailz says "travellers" is ambiguous. It might mean gypsies but it might also mean travelling salesmen. This ambiguity keeps the publican on the right side of the law.

I sat in the waiting room at the health centre and read Venus Observed. It was written for Olivier and I can hear his voice in it. Fry's mixture of artificial comedy and ornamental verse is highly peculiar.
