Be Right Back

Who'd have though Charlie Brooker (shouty TV critic and satirist) had it in him to produce something as delicate, touching and subtle as the first episode of the new season of Black Mirror? A woman is widowed, she wants her husband back, a friend tells her about a new technology that...and I'm not saying any more for fear of spoilers. So far so Monkey's Paw, but Brooker is after something other than raw horror; he wants to nudge us- but ever so gently- into philosophy. Most TV drama is predictable and generic; Black Mirror slips the chains.
