I don't know about UFOs but I agree with you on the whole. I think there's stuff people don't understand, and as a result of not understanding are very zealous to dismiss, which zeal is rather unscientific.
Yes And No
Across a continent imaginary
Because it cannot be discovered now
Upon this fully apprehended planet—
No more applicants considered,
Ran an animal unzoological,
Without a fate, without a fact,
Its private history intact
Against the travesty
Of an anatomy.
Not visible not invisible,
Removed by dayless night,
Did it ever fly its ground
Out of fancy into light,
Into space to replace
Its unwritable decease?
Ah, the minutes twinkle in and out
And in and out come and go
One by one, none by none,
What we know, what we don't know.
I was reading an article about Lorna Byrne- the woman who sees angels- and the comments on it were hateful. Some people feel deeply threatened when their materialist world view is challenged.
Riding is an underrated poet, IMO. Too many people are put off by the fact that she was a category 1 bitch who shacked up with Robert Graves. None of that takes away from the fineness of her best writing.
Have you a link to that Lorna Byrne article?
Oh, she was far sillier, but the force of her personality and her domineering nature (I think personally she suffered from Narcissistic Personality Disorder or something like) meant that Graves, and his acolytes, took her every word utterly seriously.
They deserved one another.
There was an incident where she jumped out a high window in a bout of attention seeking and he jumped out after her- because he couldn't live without her or something like that. She walked away unharmed and he broke both his ankles.
Twits- the pair of them!
Actually, she was pretty badly injured. She couldn't walk for months and had to stay in hospital. It was touch and go for a while whether she would ever walk again.
That'll teach you to say "Goodbye chaps" and jump out of 4th floor windows.
Graves did get injured as you say but initially the police thought he'd pushed her out and nearly arrested him for attempted murder.
I have to say that they don't seem to be very good drivers. They fly around the universe and then an awful lot seem to crash when they get here.
It doesn't quite add up...
Perhaps these UFO's are from a different realm , a possible universe that is close by , parallel to our own universe. The idea of membranes containing two universes or more that can sometimes touch is a persuasive idea to me.

What a well thought out musing. I was always with Fox Muldar - I do believe - but perhaps more in something like you describe here than actual UFO's.
People see UFOs and even photograph them, so there's something there, but when you to try and ascertain what exactly it is you find- sooner or later- that the conversation moves from hard science into parapsychology, conspiracy theory and even spirituality.
Just added you as I keep running into you hither and yon! :o)
Your explanation might also apply to ghosts, I suppose.
I'll add you back. :)
Yes it might apply to ghosts as well. Also to cryptids.
Maybe they're tourists, from our future. Hence the non-interventionist policy...
I think that's certainly a possibility.
