"Begin Afresh, Afresh, Afresh" [Oct. 26th, 2012|12:19 pm]
Tony Grist
My mother sent me home with a jig-saw she no longer needed. I did it in a couple of days. Then I thought I'd do another (I have a stash of the things) but leaning over a board the way you have to do hurts my back so I've decided I won't. There are better uses of one's time.

I was looking round the spare room and found I had- largely unconsciously- set it up as a temple again. There's an altar in the north, shrines at east and west- and the furnishings- most of them anyway- all mean something. I sat down, mentally set up the quarters (not difficult, they were there already) then established a shrine in the south and moved things around a bit to strengthen the elemental associations.  I'm an old man. What are old men for if not for dreaming dreams?

The paradigm is breaking up. It's a nasty old paradigm. Look at Jimmy Savile. That's the paradigm's face (or one of them.) Find a crack, insert your chisel. Tap away.

Patterns linger, y'know? and some dreams are more than mere dreams. It's a good thing, in my opinion. We could all use a little stability in our lives.

Far from a healthy subject, certainly, but to me it seems more healthy for Britain to discuss the sexual depredations of the rich and powerful than debating whether...say...the commons should avert their eyes when a newly-minted princess flashes her tits from a Paris rooftop.

I don't know how much damage a thing like this might do to the ancien regime, though. A thousand-year-old class system might take a lot of chisels.

It seems to me that the powers that be would like the investigation to be confined to the BBC (an organisation they generally consider to be insufficiently deferential.) Personally, I'd like to be hearing a lot more about Savile's relationship with Prince Charles.

I honestly don't know whether this can get real traction. The wealthy elite are already in the process of clawing back their own, with no little initial success, at least in Europe, and it wouldn't surprise me too terribly to see them succeed.
