Dealing With The Estate Agents [Oct. 20th, 2017|11:09 am]
Tony Grist
I rang the estate agents. "Hello," I began, tentatively. "My name is Grist; we've just viewed the property at XYZ..." and the guy was onto the case immediately- as if he already had the papers in front of him." "Ah yes, it's Tony, isn't it? My name is Dave...."

I'd thought he might have had problems placing me. Not a bit of it. Perhaps they don't sell many houses...

If they're good sales people they will remember their clients' names...it's fundamental when selling expensive things like houses. And each agent doesn't really handle that many properties. That info came from an estate agent friend of mine.

I didn't know you were looking for property.

Of course. Good customer relations are of the essence. I hadn't thought of it from their pov.

We have a developer wanting to buy the farm (and most of the other properties round here). We were going to move anyway but this has made us get our skates on.

Caller ID. If you've called before, they have your number in their system and when you call their computer screen will show your details.

That, too.

But a truly good agent will remember their clients. Their livelihood depends on it.

Of course. I forget about the advances in technology.
