Weight Loss [Mar. 24th, 2017|11:59 am]
Tony Grist
Ailz has been losing weight by fasting. This week she went four days without food.

I took this picture for her to put on www.fatsecret.com- where she blogs as minnitata. Go over there and talk to her about it and she'll explain how it works.

She's never ever been this light or this slim before.

Weight loss to improve health is a good thing. I'm sure Ailz' joints are thanking her.

But I wonder about prolonged fasting...

Fasting doesn't suit my metabolism at all, I get very cranky, but I have come across people who have had success with it. I can see that the problem will come when you don't want to lose any more weight and you have to adjust back to a good, healthy maintenance diet.

I gather it becomes a way of life. You fast and you feast. I haven't tried it- but it seems to come naturally to Ailz.

It's the natural way of doing things. You feast and you fast. It's how a lot of our ancestors lived.

I would still advise caution. It's not just teenage girls who can get anorexia.

Ailz looks great and I know her joints are applauding. But she is a far stronger woman than I. Fasting makes me irritated and my body feels horrible both during and after.

P.S. Shame on me for not saying that she looks great, too!

It seems to work for Ailz.

I haven't gone there yet- and probably won't.

Fasting seems to suit me. Being a diabetic (even though I'm now classed as pre-diabetic) I know that I'll never be able to eat many carbs without my blood glucose and weight going up. So rather than do without permanently I'll be fasting - probably to fasting 18 hours and eating 6 hours a day - with longer fasts if I know I'm going to eat cake or fruit or the like. Feasting and fasting is what our bodies were made for.

I went over to fatsecret.com but it's a subscription-only site and I'm too lazy to register. But I looked around at some public sites, and those 18/6 or even one-meal-a-day plans might work for me. Or just cutting out carbs for all but one meal and that one in the evening.

18/6 is really good. A lot of people do one meal a day, mainly in the evening. Once you're on low carb and high fat - only eating food as made by nature - I found, that you just don't get that hungry feeling - I do drink a lot of water.

That shade of purple really suits you as well!

I think I will be trying your fasting plan as well.

That sounds sensible enough - and if it works for you then I don't really need to have an opinion about it anyway.

Also, I know it's not about the looks, but you're getting quite the hour-glass figure and it rather suits you.
