Snowfall [Jan. 13th, 2017|09:41 am]
Tony Grist
We had snow overnight- not very much, but it has settled and frozen. Birds are flocking round the feeders. My mother-in-law in Manchester- worried by a report of flooding on the Essex coast (at a guess about a hundred miles from here)- rings to ask if we've been evacuated yet. Ailz whose grasp of geography is equally approximate says, "Now you know where I get it from."

Dusting of snow here too overnight.

We were in London yesterday and there was snow. Didn't last.

It's lasting here. We've had more fall this morning.

And the wind is cruel.

It wasn't as much as they predicted though the wind is vicious I have been told. It will all filter down to us and renew itself next week it seems. We-ll actually have frosts which is not at all common here.

We're being told to expect a week of very cold weather.

We have been told the same thing way down here. Cold, of course, is relative but when they tell us we'll only reach 10-11ºC max and just below zero minimums, that is very cold for us. I don't think we've had those kind of temps in several years, at least.

Those sort of temperatures are normal for us at this time of year.

Still hanging on here. And I believe there's more to come.
